In the 1960's, Malcomb Forbes developed three subdivisions in Costilla County on about 65,000 acres. Forbes Park, Forbes Wagon Creek Ranch and Sangre de Cristo Ranches all have different characteristics with regards to property sizes, altitude, vegetation, management, accessibility, hunting possibilities etc. Forbes Park and Forbes Wagon Creek Ranch are gated and incorporated communities while Sangre de Cristo Ranches is not incorporated, not gated and association membership is optional. If you are planning to build a cabin or home in any of these developments, you have to adhere to the building guidelines of the respective HOA's and the Costilla County Residential Development procedures which you can download here.

We can assist you with any properties for sale (also listed by other realtors).
A huge Wildfire, named the Spring Creek Fire, went through our area. It started on Wednesday June 27 2018.
Many houses have been lost. We were fortunate to hear that our home and office in Forbes Park survived. We are heartbroken for our friends and neighbors who were less fortunate and lost their home and all their belongings. Many of them bought their piece of heaven through us and we wish them strength to cope with their loss. For those, please let us know if you need any assistance. Many of them already expressed that they want to re-build their house in this area.
Update February 2020:
We are pleased to report that the recovery of Forbes Park is going very well. All meadows are greener than ever before and look much nicer without the sage brush that burned of. The rebuilding of many homes is in full progress, some of them were already finished by last year summer, we already attended quite some new home-warming parties. The new homees that were rebuilt are in most cases bigger and nicer than the ones that burned. Young aspen trees are sprouting up everywhere! Large area's have been cleared of burned trees and now have nicer views of the mountains than ever before. Most areas in Forbes Park will in 5-10 years be more beautiful than it was before the fire. We also welcomed many newcomers who took advantage of the reduced prices of burned properties and had the long term vision that Forbes Park will in the future again be a prime area for vacationing and retirement.
